Things To See

Explore our two stunning  Show Gardens

AJISAI MATSURI

Japan celebrates its hydrangea blossom season during summer with displays in some of its most beautiful public gardens. Inspired by Ajisai Matsuri (hydrangea
festival), this garden uses stone, plants and water to frame ajisai and other summer flowers and beautify a small corner of Home and Garden Show Ireland.

Sponsored by Irish Stone, designed by Eileen Sung and built by James Moneypenny, the garden combines a sense of space with exquisite variety. A canopy of unusual trees and shrubs is under-planted with bursts of pink, blue, maroon and white hydrangeas, nestled among tiny areas of gravel garden, meadow, bog and patio. A friendly bench and a Japanese stool invite
contemplation and rest.

CAFRE Water and Wildlife

Created by Chelsea Flower Show winner, Ian Price in collaboration with CAFRE student’s, this garden demonstrates a more sustainable way to manage water runoff in a domestic garden situation while improving biodiversity and increasing habitat creation. This garden showcases a small selection of the skills taught to horticulture students at CAFRE.
