Friday 16 June 2023
True to its theme, “Pure Imagination”, this year’s Garden Show Ireland opens with a Mad Hatter’s Day on Friday 16 June 2023! And it will be a lot of fun for every member of the family.
Show visitors of all ages are encouraged to get creative and make their very own ‘horticultural’ hat and take part in our competition for the best ‘Mad Hat’ decorated with flowers, vegetables or foliage. And if you don’t have the time, the madness ,or the wherewithal to make your own, just bring your hat along and our Flower Famers will give a helping hand to create your hat.
The Show’s 2023 theme takes inspiration from acclaimed garden designer and TV personality Diarmuid Gavin’s magical, mechanical Jubilee Garden, with his creation of Willy Wonka inspired plants dancing to the music of “Pure Imagination”, created for the Queen’s Jubilee.
So come along and join in the madness for a fun filled family day out!
What’s more the lucky winner with the hat judged to be the best, will bring home a Hamper of Artisan Foods worth approximately £300, kindly donated by Food NI.
Judging takes place at 1.30pm and 4.30pm in the ‘Pooch Patch’ area of the Show.
Tasked with the job of whittling down the wonderful hat creations to find their winner, our Judging Panel will consist of the previously mentioned Diarmuid Gavin who will be joined by Northern Irish TV personality, Pamela Ballantine, model turned horticulturist Marie Staunton and horticulturist turned milliner, Marie-Claire Ferguson.
So come along and soak in the cheerful, lively, mad atmosphere of Garden Show Ireland 2023, taking in the surroundings filled with flowers, food and fun. Live music, food and gardening demonstrations will run throughout the three days to showcase the best local produce Northern Ireland has to offer.
