Helen works across a wide range of radio and television programmes and has done for about 25 years and she is currently presenting BBC Radio Ulster’s long running ‘Gardener’s Corner’. She first got involved in garden programmes many years ago on BBC/RTE’s ‘Greenfingers’ which took her to wonderful gardens across the island of Ireland.
She is the presenter of BBC Radio 4’s ‘Open Country’ and in her 16 or so years has made programmes across the UK from Shetland to the Scilly Isles and all parts in between meeting people who have a deep connection to their landscape.
Over the years she was a reporter for ‘Countryfile’, presented ‘Farming Today’, still reports for Radio Ulster’s ‘Your Place and Mine’ , had feature pieces on ‘Woman’s Hour’, presented UTV’s ‘The Family Show’ and ‘Health Check’ and worked on the BBC’s ‘World War 1 at Home’ series. She produces features for RTE’s ‘Nationwide’ programme, presented ’12 Miles: The Narrow Sea’ for BBC 1 NI about the modern day connections between NI and Scotland and is MC at the Belfast and Glasgow Tattoo. She is the presenter of BBC Radio Ulster’s Ulster Scots programme ‘A Kist o Wurds’ which, as a Scot, she particularly loves doing!
