Cream Teas and Jazz!

“Fresh and full of vitality, while still retaining its traditional flavour” – a description of the music of the Martello Jazz Band that fits perfectly with the Thompson Family’s Punjana Tea served throughout the Show in the Punjana Tea Pavilion!

Part of Northern Ireland’s special heritage, Punjana started life near the docklands of Belfast in 1896 under the leadership of founder Robert Thompson, and still blends its award-winning tea from their state of the art blending and packing facility in Belfast, guided by the third generation of the Thompson family.

The Martello Jazz Band, which has been part of Allianz Garden Show Ireland for many years and which is partly responsible for the event’s unique atmosphere, is back again in 2018 using their evergreen talent to enhance the Show’s unique atmosphere and entertain guests with their lively renditions of 1920s Jazz.

The Martello Jazz Band was formed in 1985 by a group of enthusiastic musicians who had played previously in other bands. Their aim was to produce a sound reminiscent of the Dixieland bands which were commonplace in the New Orleans of the 1920’s and 1930’s, but also to stamp on it their own brand of drive and flair.

So the Punjana Tea Pavilion is where to head for your afternoon spoiling session of a delicious cream tea whilst listening to the music after a busy day exploring the Show!

Just drop off your purchases in the ‘Plant Creche’ where not only your plants, but all your other purchases will be well looked after by volunteers of the ‘Friends of Antrim Castle Gardens’ group until you’re ready to head home.
